26 May @ Saint Thomas Aquinas for State Quarters vs. Lansing (7-0)
This turned out to be quite a stat game as, for example, we generated 19 corner kicks in the match, scoring on 3 of them. The score stood 3-0 at the half and finished up at 7-0 as our all-senior line-up went on a flurry at the end of the match. Lansing had held us at bay for most of the second half.
We really liked the #3 girl in the back for Lansing. She saved a lot of shots, break-aways, you name it. She's a very, very good player.
We cashed two first-half corners and just a great Denning to Petty through ball into a nice shot in the first half. So actually Lansing blew up a lot of our attack in the final piece of the field.
BWhite named Madi Holmes the BWhite Player of the Match as she played consistently well for the entire match. It would be hard to find someone better than Meyers for that last 7 minutes of the match, but Madie played well throughout.
Kutey's 2 goals pushed her total to 25, the most goals she has scored in a season at Aquinas. With two matches yet to play, she is putting in quite a senior season, missing some of those Hall-of-Fame forwards she has teamed up with in the past.
The defense shut down what had been a fairly high-power offense during most of the season. I believe they netted a shot for the game. So hats off to the midfield and that back line.
We now move on to the final four to take on our standard opponent, Bishop Carroll. They are always very good and we always have close matches with them, never more than a goal or two apart. So we are in for a doozy this Friday.
