Game 14 @ BV West EKL

We played a minute or so past half in this lightning-shortened EKL match. West is very, very good, and they will be right in the thick of it for 5A State this year. Tonight we somehow avoided giving up any goals in the opening minutes when we were clearing mentally not here.

We then regrouped, got focused and found Jamie a couple of times. Jamie's two goals tonight tied her all time with the great Erin Grimsley who graduated in 1996. Yes, that record has stood for nineteen years. And on the night Jamie found history, BWhite named her BWhite Player of the Match.

We did think having 3 grass games in Iowa over the past weekend helped us with West's surface tonight as well.  We hit far too many long balls, but for whatever reason, we were missing feet or rather choosing not to find feet on that first pass.  We will need to find more possession going forward.

The win does keep us in the hunt to defend our EKL title.  We will, of course, have to beat BV Northwest on Thursday night, a feat no team has been able to accomplish so far this season.

We will see BV West again in playoffs, either in the region finals or the state quarterfinals.  Only one of us will get its ticket punched for the final four. That rematch will be quite a game.
