Game 15: at Home vs. BVNW

7 May vs. BVNW at STA (2-1)

Well, Hamms said before the game started that this is a game that could only go a half, as weather was on the horizon.  BWhite said "You guys are going to have to weather some storms tonight."

That seemed pretty prophetic when we quickly fell behind 1-0 in less than three minutes.

We did seem to pull ourselves together quickly thereafter and start to look like a soccer team. We ended up getting it tied up off our nice throw-in play, a play that benefited from the eternal scrappiness that Marge Pigott brings to every play.  And Madi later finished a corner to allow us to take the lead.  So, two set pieces to push us to the 2-1 lead.

Lightning once again ended the match early.  But once again, we had the lead when the match was called.  This match had all sorts of ramifications as well.  The win allowed us to at least share another EKL title. It probably allowed us a win over the eventual 6A State Champions. It also allowed us to keep quite a streak of big-time wins going.

So many players had good matches again tonight. BWhite did give out co-awards to Madi Holmes and Marge Pigott. Yes, they both scored but B saw way more than that in their entire solid play throughout the match.

Northwest is quite a team, obviously; they came in undefeated and 3rd in the country. So we do take great pride in posting this victory.

Congrats girls; let's keep this thing rolling.
