Blue Golds

Blue Gold 1 & 2

13 March and 21 March

This photo pretty much capsulizes Blue/Gold 1 as we did some pretty nice things but we just did not find our way into the net. The score ended up 1-0 as we did cash a second-half corner kick (Holmes from the 2-man from Denning and Reynolds).

The JV did a pretty solid job on the defensive end of the ball, but honestly a few times, say 3-4 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, simply required us to put a shot on frame to score.

We will be looking to see more goals when we return from break in our Blue Gold 2 match as we build towards opening day.

Blue-Gold 2

Though we had less players we did look much better the second time around, scoring 8 goals, with Jamie tallying 4.  Olivia Meyers played a lot of defensive center midfield and she was able to move the ball forward a couple of lines many times, thus making us a lot more dangerous.

We also added the basketball girls. So Molly Schmidt got some big minutes in, minutes that include a goal from the right back position. Nicole Corrigan got her first minutes as a goalie as well. She gave up just two goals in the match.

We were playing without Madie Holmes and Addie Denning, the first in Rome and the other sick. But those absences allowed us to get some good looks at Sophie Geiger who played well along with Heying and Pigott and Kwap a lot more.

So all in all an encouraging day. The JV did create a nice goal when Woltering dummied the ball setting up a Miller whack.

Tyler (Sesti moved the ball on the rotation wide)
Kutey (Meyers finds Jamie in the middle of the field)
Heying (Kutey plays her through)
Schmidt (takes the block shot and one touches it back on goal from the wing)
Kwap (Heying plays the ball over the top)
Kutey (Tyler T's it to the slot)
Kutey (Meyers finds Jamie again in the middle)
Kutey (Meyers ball creates the break-away)
